About

The Bath Society of Artists was founded in 1904 with twenty six foundation members and it has grown over the years to a membership of around 125 diverse, talented artists.

Many distinguished 20th century painters have exhibited and taken an interest in the Bath Society of Artists including Walter Sickert, John Singer Sargent, P Wilson Steer, Gilbert Spencer, William Scott, Patrick Heron, Mary Feddon, Adrian Heath and David Inshaw.

The annual exhibition, open to non-members, is held in the Victoria Art Gallery. The Society also organises other social activities and members exhibitions throughout the year.

Our purpose is to:

  • Form an outlet for the creative activity of artists, professional and amateur, in Bath and throughout the UK.

  • Stimulate local interest in art emphasising that there is a lively Society active in and around the City.

  • Promote friendly links with the Civic Authority leading to new projects of mutual benefit.

  • Promote activities to foster member’s interest and expand their horizons.
