About
The Bath Society of Artists was founded in 1904 with twenty six foundation members and it has grown over the years to a membership of around 125 diverse, talented artists.
Many distinguished 20th century painters have exhibited and taken an interest in the Bath Society of Artists including Walter Sickert, John Singer Sargent, P Wilson Steer, Gilbert Spencer, William Scott, Patrick Heron, Mary Feddon, Adrian Heath and David Inshaw.
The annual exhibition, open to non-members, is held in the Victoria Art Gallery. The Society also organises other social activities and members exhibitions throughout the year.
Our purpose is to:
Form an outlet for the creative activity of artists, professional and amateur, in Bath and throughout the UK.
Stimulate local interest in art emphasising that there is a lively Society active in and around the City.
Promote friendly links with the Civic Authority leading to new projects of mutual benefit.
Promote activities to foster member’s interest and expand their horizons.
